Smoothie with Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Banana & Pineapple
This smoothie is packed with berries!! I found fresh blueberries and raspberries at the local market for $1.00 a pint and the strawberries were 99 cents! I bought 3 of each and put them in freezer bags to have ready for smoothies or baking. Using frozen berries in your smoothie keeps you from adding to much ice which can water it down.

My freezer bags of berries
For the Smoothie
1/3 cup Bluberries
1/3 cup Raspberries
5 Strawberries
1 Banana
1/4 cup Pineapple & splash of juice
1/3 cup milk (I used Rice Milk)
3 ice cubes (because the berries were frozen!)

Everything goes into the blender
Throw everything into the Blender and give it a whirl! Tons of antioxidants in this one and filling if you haven’t had breakfast or in between meals.

The Smoothie
Strawberry Banana Pineapple Smoothie for the Summer Heat!
This smoothie does the trick when it is 113 degrees outside!
It is the heat of the day and it is HOT! Sunday it was a searing 116 degrees! This is hot even in Arizona. I miss the Northwest!!I will even take some rain and wind right now. This is my “stand by” smoothie. It is filling so it is great for a morning healthy breakfast or an afternoon snack. I use soy milk and honey (from the bear) to sweeten it up.

Strawberry Banana Pineapple Smoothie
This Smoothie is so good and on super hot days like today it cools you down! Now for the stuff about “Why” you should drink this: Strawberries are great for cleansing and detoxification, according to the book Juices & Smoothies by Suzannah Oliver and Joanna Farrow. It also points out Bananas are very good energy boosters! Who doesn’t need that in the middle of the day? Now with Pineapple, the enzymes help clear the blood and break down clots and is thought to relieve arthritis and may reduce back pain. Pineapple also help “cleanup” the digestive track which is the best part of all! This is what I throw in the blender:
Strawberry Banana Pineapple Smoothie
1 Banana
5 Strawberries
hand full of Pineapple chunks with some Juice
1/2 cup soy milk
4 ice cubes
1 1/2 tbsp Honey
Put all of the ingredients in the blender and turn on high until well blended and pour into large glass.

By the Glass!
New Juicing Page! Carrot, celery and cucumber Juice
Juicing to stay healthy is so easy and good for you.
I decided to add a page to this blog about Juicing. I flat love it and don’t do it enough myself. So I thought if I am writing about it, I will stay on track and do it! It is so good for you and it is also so easy to grab a bagel and run out the door rather than treat yourself. Don’t get me wrong I am all about the bagel except juicing is so much better! Here is my morning juice recipe which I got from Dr. Sanda Cabot’s Book “The Liver Cleansing Diet” you can find it here. http://www.liverdoctor.com/ This juice is great for energy and when I am faithful it takes the place of my morning coffee (really!) because of the boost of energy I feel!
Morning Juice
3 carrots, 3 stalks celery, 1/2 peeled cucumber

Now here is the hottest tip I can give yous since the biggest complaint I hear for NOT juicing is the cleanup. Notice the plastic bag in the pulp bucket? Yeah that is it! It is great because it all of the pulp ends up in the bag , a great use for those grocery store bags!
- Notice the Bag?
Here is the Juice!! It is sweet and you can add half an apple a handful of parsley (the book calls for it but I am out).
- Carrot celery and cucumber
According to the book, Nutritional benefits include vitamins B,C and beta-carotene and calcium among others. Always remember to drink 8 plus glasses of water per day! No excuses now! Cleanup is a snap with use of your shopping bags (I really like the one from the produce department!)
